Solar Car Challenge Event Update 2023-2

Cruiser Division Solar Cars in the 2023 Race
Cruiser Division Teams need to begin planning to have drivers that are 18 years of age. Texas Law provides that if you are between 16-17 years of age with a provisional driver’s license, you cannot drive a motor vehicle with more than one passenger in the vehicle under the age of 21 who is not a family member.

Of course, Cruiser Division teams can still drive with a driver and one passenger, but this defeats the purpose of the cruiser vehicle. Teams are always free to add 18-year olds to their team as drivers.

Internships in the 2023 Solar Car Challenge
The application deadline for Internships in the 2023 Solar Car Challenge has been extended to January 15, 2023. We ask solar car teams to encourage their graduated team members to apply for these internships.

A Solar Car Challenge Internship offers a splendid opportunity to give back to the solar car community for the benefits that student enjoyed being a member of a solar car team.
